Discover the charm of Costa Brava
Blanes, an old fishing town located in the region of La Selva, is today an important tourist destination that gathers all the services of a city, offering a wide range of shops, restaurants, and leisure activities while still preserving all the charm of the seaside towns in the Costa Brava.

Blanes beaches
Throughout its 2.5 miles of coastline, long beaches alternate with small coves and cliffs surrounded by mountains. The best beaches in the centre of Blanes next to the port are: S’Abanell, in the city’s tourist area; Treumal, the smallest one, located to the north and surrounded by the Pinya de Rosa Natural Site of National Interest; Santa Anna, behind the port and at the feet of the Blanes Convent; and Sant Francesc, surrounded by pine trees and highly recommended for families.
Sant Joan Castle
On the mountain of Sant Joan, the highest point in Blanes, you can find the remains of its homonymous castle, built in the mid-thirteenth century by order of the viscount Guerau de Cabrera on top of a pre-existent building from the eleventh century whose tall tower still stands. It’s a spectacular viewpoint that offers fantastic views of practically the whole city of Blanes.

Places of interest
If you walk around the centre of Blanes you can come across elegant nineteenth-century houses and Gothic remains such as the Gothic Fountain or the Church of Santa Maria, an old palace of the Viscounts of Cabrera (fourteenth century). Also of interest are the chapels of L’Antiga and La Salut.

Botanical gardens
The Marimurtra Botanical Garden, declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest by the Government of Catalonia, is one of the most interesting botanical gardens in Europe due to its stunning landscape. Almost 10 acres in size, it is home to approximately 3,000 exotic species. On the other hand, Pinya de Rosa, a tropical garden of 123 acres in size located 1.2 miles from Blanes, is home to 7,000 species from around the world.

Sports tourism
Thanks to its location between the mountains and the sea as well as for its climate, Blanes is an ideal destination to enjoy outdoor sports activities all year long. From water sports on its beaches (snorkelling, sailing, swimming, surfing or rowing) to cycling and hiking routes, as well as the indoor options that you can find at Nova Ciutat Esportiva, one of the largest sports halls in Spain (430,500 ft2).
