Beaches and bays surrounded by pinewoods, leisure and fun.

Sant Feliu de Guixols is located by the sea, on the Costa Brava. The coast of Sant Feliu is rich in contrasts, with cliffs, small coves and white sandy bays. In addition to the attraction of the beaches and coves surrounded by pine forests (Sa Caleta, del Vigatà or Jonca) and the charm of a fishermen’s town, Sant Feliu de Guíxols stands out for its range of sports facilities, its historical heritage (especially its Modernist architecture, such as the Casino de la Constància) and the prestigious Porta Ferrada International Music Festival.

Beaches

If you are looking for a sandy beach to sunbathe and take a swim, we recommend you to go to the main beach, located next to the village centre, Platja de Sant Feliu. It is a blue flag beach, with the guarantee that you will find all the services there: lifeguard, toilets, showers, disabled access, sun lounger and parasol hire and sports activities for everyone.

Other beaches that you may greatly enjoy are Platja de Sant Pol and very close to it, the small Platja de Sa Caleta, located next to S’Agaró (Castell-Platja d’Aro), easily recognisable by the famous Casa de les Punxes, a small palace with nine sharp towers and also by about twenty picturesque wooden huts.

Monuments

Indispensable visits in Sant Feliu de Guixols: the centre is constituted by the old Benedictine monastery from the 10th century with the old Romanesque gate Porta Ferrada and the parish church of Mare de Déu dels Angels. The convent also houses the Carmen Thyssen museum, with temporary exhibitions during the summer months. The town’s covered market was built in 1929 and is still in use today. It is an ideal place to buy fruit, vegetables, meat and fish. Behind the port is the Maritime Rescue Museum, where shipwrecked sailors were cared for. At Sant Pol beach you can admire more modern buildings, such as the Casa Estrada (1890-1912) and the Casino la Constància, dating from 1889, which is remarkable for its Arab features. A visit to the chapel of Sant Elm on the seafront promenade offers stunning views of the coastline.

Active tourism

Another way to enjoy the sea is by participating in some kind of nautical activity. In this sense, the port of Sant Feliu de Guixols is a reference point. The main beaches offer the possibility of practising water sports such as sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, water skiing or surfing, and why not, even a boat trip. Related to the natural environment, another good option is to follow the routes that cross the municipality’s landscapes. These are itineraries that allow you to discover corners far from the coast and enjoy magnificent views, such as the Mare de Déu or Pedralta hills. On the other hand, the old Via del Carrilet, along which a narrow-gauge train used to run from Girona, has now been adapted as a greenway, ideal for cycle-tourism enthusiasts.
